Welcome to the page for our Music Ministry
and the talented people who create and comprise it.

Lisa Ferraro Greetings from Lisa Ferraro,
Music Director, UCSL Annual Gathering

Hello all of you wonderful musicians! Welcome to UCSL musicians’ website.

Over the past 2-and-a-half years it has been my great pleasure and honor to serve United Centers for Spiritual Living as the Music Director for the Annual Gathering.

During that time I’ve facilitated 2 Musician mini-convos, music-directed other conferences and have been on the music team for International Centers for Spiritual Living, formerly RSI, and United Centers for Spiritual Living. This has given me the great opportunity to be exposed to the amazing plethora of talent within this Religious Science philosophy. It has also given me the opportunity to talk with a lot of you to see how I could best be of service to the music ministries during my time as music director of the Gathering.

Many conversations have taken place about getting us all together and here it is! Our own musicians’ list serve. This is only the beginning of what is in store for us. More will follow in the months ahead.

For now, please use this list serve to exchange songs and ideas for choir pieces, discuss ways of improving your music ministries, find out who travels and how much to pay artists…in short all things music.

We ask that all communication be about music and best ways to serve, learn and grow.

I will be monitoring the list serve and granting new people access. Please feel free to send this information to other musicians who might be interested.

Eventually, we will have a list of all musicians and their home churches, traveling musicians and contact info, a new chant book and songbook and much more.

New at The Gathering in 2009:

  1. We will begin a Symposium Series for musicians. There will be at least 3 classes/workshops pertaining to music ministry. One will be on choir building and there will be others as well. This is part of an educational track that I’ve envisioned for us in an effort to bring all the music ministries up to a level of excellence that we can all be proud of.
  2. Musician Delegates: I have written a formal proposal to the Core Council for an amendment change to the by-laws that will recognize the addition of musicians as delegates, or voting members of United Centers for Spiritual Living. This motion will be brought to the floor for a vote in 2009 and hopefully pass with flying colors.

The goal here is that churches will pay to send musicians to The Gathering not only to vote but to take advantage of the Musician Symposium series. The musician will have access to valuable information and ideas, therefore bringing a noticeable positive change to the music ministry of their respective churches. Win win!

In closing for now:
I sincerely thank all of the leadership at home office, Dr. Kathy Hearn, Judy Morley, Rev. Gregory Toole, Ray and Marty Bunch, Rev. Michelle Medrano and more for making this series of events possible. We have so much support and I thank you.

This is a unique point in time for the music of this movement as we have never before had so many musicians writing and performing music that is unique to Religious Science. I thank all of you for your years of effort to become the brilliant beams of musical light and you are and for making this special moment in time.

I am in awe of you and am grateful for having this opportunity to be of service to such an amazing group of religious scientists!

My email door is always opened to you…
